Statutory Mandate
PopWatch advocates on behalf of the above vulnerable category of people to ensure their rights, welfare, safety and security both in the place of origin, transit and destination. It seeks to provide some or all of the following: material and social assistance; legal redress, international campaign, diplomatic negotiation, protection against mistreatment; and advocacy for rights and welfare through the specific measures as under:
- Co-ordination between the stakeholders working in the field of population movement with the aim of promoting their effectiveness and creating a communication network for the exchange of options, information, and experience between them in the realm of population movement.
- Exploration, development and organization of means of cooperation between Nepali institutions and stakeholders in the countries of transit and destination and their counterparts abroad as well as international agencies involved in the field of population movement.
- Strengthen rights-based working relations between NGOs and the executive agencies of the concerned ministries and departments, as well as with all governmental, inter-governmental, humanitarian and development agencies for advocacy and policy dialogue to ensure safe human mobility.
